Fun Friday Links

Hello! Happy Friday!

A few of my colleagues and I are holding a Bake Sale today to raise money for Cancer Research UK, as part of our lead-up to the Race for Life 5k at the end of June.

Check out these stunning treats!

My lovely talented baker colleagues!

We have an amazing selection of cakes, and everyone has put in so much time and effort. I whipped up these peanut butter bites which I may have tested last night - awesome!

And also tried this vegan lemon cake recipe from The Ethical Chef- I'm not a vegan, but a couple of my work friends are and I was curious as to how the recipe would turn out. Fingers crossed it tastes as good as it looks! :)

Here are your Fun Friday Links!

  • Explore London with some great walks listed on the Walk London website and discover things you've never seen before. Complete with audio guides and maps!
  • Feeling ambitious? Sign up to join the Coxless Rowers team looking to become the first all four female team to row the Pacific Ocean in April 2014, breaking three World Records in the process.
  • Why whole milk is good for you- I have always drunk semi-skimmed but I can definitely see the argument for switching. Plus it makes better tasting coffee!

Have a great weekend! I'm off to eat some cake! :)

WIAW: What I Ate Wednesday 13

Come and join the What I Ate Wednesday party! Click over to Jenn at Peas&Crayons to find out what all the fuss is about :)

Tuesday's eats...

Breakfast
Cup of tea in bed while catching up on blogs...

Then porridge from my Graze breakfast box - apple and cinnamon with honey, and a few added chia seeds.

Yummy! And super speedy to make in the microwave.

Lunch
A chicken, avocado and lettuce wholemeal roll.

And a Total 0% yoghurt pot

I've tried a lot of different yoghurts recently, from Chobani to Danio to Total - I have to say, I love them all for different reasons!

Dinner
Pizza - this was a reduced ham and pineapple one that I picked up in Sainsbury's, with added mushrooms and Herbs de Provence (otherwise they're a bit bland). Served with a side salad of lettuce, spinach, cucumber and cherry tomatoes.

Later on I had a cup of tea and 2 Tim Tams - yes we've still got some left! (And Mark is in Oz again so we may add to the stash, they are awesome!)

What is your favourite biscuit?

A Much Needed "Multivitality Boost"! (Review)

Everybody always feels like they need more energy! Working 9-5 with a commute, and then trying to fit in time for fitness, social activities and cooking healthy meals can leave you feeling drained.

Recently I was sent some sachets of MultiVitality Boost from Healthspan to try. This fast dissolving energy drink contains B Vitamins and Guarana, and is designed to help combat tiredness and fatigue.

Source

The sachets are a great travel size and convenient for when you're on the go. I took several to work for when I needed a boost mid-afternoon!

"Each sachet contains the entire B vitamin family at expert recommended levels along with zinc for its key role in the production of energy. Also included is magnesium, which is used to overcome tiredness and fatigue, and 50mg of guarana, a natural stimulant to provide fast-acting support."

They were actually properly put to the test because I came down with a horrible 2-day cold a couple of weeks ago and was feeling decidedly under the weather - by 3pm on those days I was really struggling and taking one of the Multivitality Boost sachets made a visible difference. I was able to power through the rest of the afternoon and not feel like I wanted to go to bed when I got home as well. I even made it to a Team Naturally Run training session thanks to the extra energy! :)

The sachets come in two flavours - Orange and Mixed Berry. They were quite a lurid colour, but the flavours were actually quite subtle and didn't taste as synthetic as I was fearing. I tended to mix them in quite a small glass of water and drink it quickly, but you could mix it in more water for a longer drink with less flavour, which has the benefits of extra hydration too! The sachets dissolve well and are not gritty.

I would definitely reccomend the MultiVitality Boost sachets for days when you need a pick-me-up- they're a similar product to Berocca but at half the price are definitely worth trying!

NB: I was sent a pack of MultiVitality Boost to try but as always my opinions are my own.
